International Institute for Conservation, The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) red list of threatened species. In this list, even during this Black Rhinos live in the West African region declared extinct.
The BBC reported, in addition to the extinction of African Black Rhino, a number of other species are also threatened vanished because of poaching. Moreover, during this time many criminal groups that perform poaching for rhino horn is indeed targeting high value on the market.
List prepared by IUCN also revealed other threatened rhino subspecies. One is the White Rhinoceros in the North African region. Also, the Javan rhino is otherwise no longer in the outer region of Java.
"You can imagine, an animal running free with a horn that is worth gold. That's what you are looking for. That is of value. Because it's supposed to be strictly under guard animals," said Simon Stuart, IUCN Species Penyelematan Commission members.
Another focus in the "red list" IUCN is a reptile around Madagascar. The report says about 40 percent of reptiles in the region is being threatened. Even so, a new conservation area is being designed to be built in Madagascar. Conservation is expected to protect the new Tarzan Chameleon (Calumma tarzan) and Limbless skink lizard or reptile (Paracontias fasika).
However, not all reports contain extinction. This annual report also mentioned the successful breeding of Przewalski horses (Equus ferrous). After almost declared extinct in 1996, carried out successful breeding programs conserve the Przewalski horse now numbering 300 left.
"Red List update the picture is indeed happening to the world's species. There is good news, there is also bad news," said Dr.. Monika Boehm of the Zoological Society of London, which is a partner of IUCN. "Unfortunately, the general trend is the decline in biological diversity. We have not achieved our best conservation potential."
